December 13, 2009 Three Good Things

I'm already slacking on this like I have with most of my other blogs. In my defense, I've been grading like a madman. And now, I am almost done. I need to grade one more class and write one more paper and then I will be finito with this semester. I'm really looking forward to Christmas. I cannot wait to go home and see my parents for the first time since May. Luckily, they don't make me feel too guilty about my constant absence. I think they understand I'm working hard to finish this degree, so I can get a good job and blah blah blah.

So, today's three things...I'm going to be thinking while I'm writing, usually I'm a little more planned out.

1.) Waking up before BF. Pretty much every Saturday and Sunday I wake up before BF. And for about and hour or so I'm all alone. A part of my really likes the solitude. I, actually love to be all by myself. I like it at work a lot too. But after 2-3 hours I usually wander to the office or to another lab to chat for a few. That I cannot help. Anyway, back to the point. Before BF wakes up I read Us Weekly, I watch stupid stories on TV about this or that, or I look at crap online. It's nice being undisturbed for a few minutes. And as soon as he wakes up, I get to snuggle with him on the couch. It's pretty nice.

2.) Unexpected gifts. One of my students gave me a Christmas/Thank you gift. I thought that was so sweet of her/unexpected. It made me feel like maybe I wasn't such a horrible teacher after all. Another student gave me a hug and said I was the best TA ever. Which, is not true. I usually wasn't too prepared considering this was the first time I taught the course or taught period. Either way, it was a fun experience and I'm glad some people thought I was pretty decent.

3.) Baking Christmas cookies. Today BF and I are making our "Holiday Cookies" that we give to my advisor, the secretaries where he works and where I work. I love to bake! And, I'm excited to give them away to people who will appreciate them. Although, I know my advisor shares them with others, probably because he doesn't need 30 cookies in his house with his young kids.

Those are my three things for this weekend. Hopefully I'll have something more exciting soon enough!
