Three good things for December 7, 2009

I haven't written for a number of days. Not because good things haven't happened, but its the end of the semester and between writing a final lab practical exam, my Biogeochemistry paper and my regression paper I've been a little bit busy. Oh, and I got an HD cable box for my new television which takes up massive amounts of time with me and BF going "Wow, look at how crisp those colors are!" "I can see the freckles on America Ferrera's nose!" or "Have Bing Crosby's eyes always been this blue in White Christmas."

Anyway, that's why I haven't been writing. Working on my education and watching TV in high definition. You know, the American dream.

So, here are my three things for today:

1.) Super cute snuggly babies. A co-student of mine had a baby about 4 weeks ago, and today she brought him in for *me* to see. I was so busy fussing over him and chatting with her she hardly had time to see anyone else. I am a total baby-aholic. I have loved babies since I was practically still a baby at 5 or 6. I love their little noses, little fingers, chub rolls, and especially the way they smell. That soury sweet smell of a baby literally makes my "uterus glow" to steal a line from Scrubs. Ugh, I love babies. They can always make you smile cos a new fresh life is so precious!

2.) Snow. I live in one of the snowiest places in the Northeast and I hate to tell people this, but I LOVE it. Well, most of the time. When it's snowing it means its not uber below freezing, which also happens in Syracuse. It's just cold. And when I woke up yesterday morning and BF wasn't up yet, I opened our blinds and saw a very thin blanket of snow, and turned on all our Christmas lights, and enjoyed it. Because it was a Sunday and I didn't have anywhere else to be. It's snowing right now. And I just walked back from a lecture across campus, and it smelled like it was gonna snow any minute. It smelled like snow. It made me kind of happy, cos I know this time of year it won't accumulate too much. I know I'll retract my love of snow in a matter of 6-8 weeks. But I think if you're gonna live up here in Upstate New York, you may as well like snow, because that's what you're getting.

3.) The end of a semester. Now, with the exception of 18 months I have been going to school in some form or another since I was 4. And I've been on a semester schedule since I was 14. The end of a semester is such an exciting time. Well, there's lots of work, final projects and papers to do, but there is also excitement to be done with this and that. And looking forward to a little bit of a respite. I know I am welcoming going home for Chritmas/New Years. It'll be nice to see my family and my friends. Well, mostly to see Lynn! But, the end of a semester is a nice accomplishment, where at the end I can say, "Oh, Biogeochemistry, yah I took that. Got an A-. It wasn't so bad." or I can say "Regression Analysis, I took that. Got 100 on all the homeworks. It wasn't so bad." And in the end, I'll be all the smarter and will be able to apply this knowledge to my thesis.

I hope you all have at least 3 good things going on today!
